My Work Desk, Powered by Coffee and good vibes!
After years of working since I was sixteen, I’ve loved every job I’ve had — from the fast pace of hospitality to the people you meet along the way. But as much as I valued those experiences, I always knew I wanted something that could grow with me. No one dreams of being sixty and still closing up a bar at midnight. I wanted a career that could evolve, challenge me, and give me space to build something long‑term.
That’s why applying for BX Merchandise wasn’t just a “next job” moment…it was intentional. BX had always stood out to me as a place where creativity meets structure, where you can learn, progress, and actually see the impact of your work. Coming back into an office environment after years of hands‑on roles felt like the right kind of reset — a chance to bring everything I’ve learned about people, pace, and problem‑solving into a space built for growth.
Finding My People at BX
One of the biggest surprises in my first few weeks has been how quickly I felt part of the team. Walking into a new office can be daunting, but at BX, it’s been nothing but welcoming from day one.
Paulina, our co‑director, has been like my work mum — guiding me through everything with patience and care. She’s always open to questions, gives honest feedback, and makes sure I fully understand each task before moving me onto the next. Her support has made the transition so much smoother.
Sarah, our director, who keeps us all on track, has this incredible ability to balance structure and positivity. She makes sure we’re hitting deadlines and staying focused, but also that the office feels like a genuinely good place to be. Her energy sets the tone for the whole team. Not to forget she brought a coffee machine for the office…what more can a girl need? Lol!
Luis, who handles production, has been my go‑to for practical help. He’s always willing to take time out of his day to explain things properly, never rushing, always making sure I get it. That kind of patience means a lot when you’re new.
And then there’s Tanisha from finance — my work sister. She keeps the mood light, shares life updates, and makes sure everyone’s spirits stay high even on busy days. She’s the kind of person who reminds you that work can be fun too.
We’re all completely different, but that’s what makes it work. Our strengths and weaknesses balance each other out, and together we make things happen. I’ve never felt so welcomed or part of a work family so quickly. BX really is something special.
Learning the Foundations
Even though I’ve had office jobs before and studied business administration, stepping into logistics was a completely new world for me, and that was exactly what made it exciting. I wanted a role that would challenge me, teach me something different, and give me skills I could build a real career on. Week one gave me that from the very start.
I spent my first few days getting to know the foundations of how BX operates. I was introduced to our clients, our stock houses, the different rooms where everything is stored, and the huge range of merchandise we work with. I learned where everything is kept both physically and online and quickly realised how essential SharePoint is. Every client, product, and delivery has its own folder and its own system.
In logistics, the details matter. I learned how to check and repack deliveries before they go out to clients, how to record incoming and outgoing stock, and how important it is that delivery notes, checklists, and postage labels are accurate. I also began liaising with delivery companies and clients to make sure everything arrives on time, while keeping track of delivery costs and spending.
It was a lot to take in, but it never felt overwhelming. It felt like building a new skill set piece by piece, and for the first time I could see myself growing into a role with real long‑term potential.
Company Values: What BX Stands For
Another thing I’ve come to really appreciate about BX is how deeply the company lives its values. BX is a women‑owned business and that alone already sets a tone of strength, leadership, and representation. But what stands out even more is the commitment to sustainability. It isn’t just a marketing line or something we mention occasionally. It’s built into the way we work every single day.
Being in logistics has given me a front‑row seat to how intentional BX is about the environment. I’ve seen how we reuse materials like cardboard boxes instead of wasting them, and how we encourage suppliers to use recyclable and biodegradable packaging. Every delivery, every order, every shipment is handled with the mindset of reducing waste and making better choices for the planet.
It’s refreshing to work somewhere that genuinely cares about the impact we make. It makes the work feel meaningful, and it makes me proud to be part of a company that chooses to do things the right way, even when it takes more effort.

Week 2: Finding My Rhythm
By week two, everything started to fall into place. The logistics flow that felt new and unfamiliar at first suddenly made a lot more sense. I began to understand the structure of my days and what was expected of me. I would log on, join the morning meeting to catch up on where everyone was at and what we were all working on, and then get straight into the day’s tasks with a much clearer sense of direction.
With a deeper understanding of my role, I found myself able to do more on my own rather than constantly asking for help. I was doing a lot more hands‑on work, from packing and sealing boxes to carrying deliveries up and down the stairs for drivers. It was physical, practical, and surprisingly satisfying. Every task helped me understand the bigger picture of how everything moves through the BX logistics process.
This was also the week where I started finding my voice in the office. I felt more confident offering suggestions and sharing my thoughts instead of just listening quietly. I no longer felt like the newbie watching from the sidelines. I felt like an actual member of the team, contributing in my own way and becoming more comfortable in the space around me.

Week 3: Stepping Up and Settling In
By week three, everything started to feel familiar in the best way. The nerves of being new had faded, and I could feel myself stepping into the role with a lot more confidence. The tasks that once felt big or complicated were becoming part of my routine, and I was beginning to understand how each part of logistics connects to the wider BX workflow.
This was the week where I really started taking ownership of my tasks. I was checking deliveries from start to finish, managing my own lists for the day, and handling more of the process without needing constant reassurance. When small issues came up, I found myself problem‑solving instead of panicking, and that shift alone made me realise how much I had already grown.
I also began to see the bigger picture. Logistics isn’t just about boxes and labels. It’s about timing, communication, accuracy, and making sure every client receives exactly what they’re expecting. I could see how my role supports production, finance, client services, and the overall success of each campaign. That understanding made the work feel even more meaningful.
By the end of the week, I felt settled. Not in a comfortable or lazy way, but in a grounded way. I knew what I was doing, I knew where I fit, and I could see how much potential there is for me to grow here. It was the first time in a long time that I felt excited about the future of my career.
Looking Ahead
As I reach the end of my first three weeks at BX, I’ve realised how much this experience has already shaped me both personally and professionally. I came into this role hoping for a fresh start and a chance to build something meaningful, and I’ve found exactly that. These weeks have been filled with learning, growth, and moments that reminded me why I chose to step back into an office environment with intention. Every day has pushed me to understand more, do more, and believe in myself a little more.
What stands out the most is how supported I’ve felt throughout the entire process. From learning the foundations of logistics to finding my rhythm and stepping into tasks with confidence, I’ve never once felt alone in the journey. Being surrounded by a team that genuinely wants to see me succeed has made all the difference. Their patience, encouragement, and trust have helped me settle into my role faster than I ever expected. It’s rare to find a workplace where you feel valued so quickly, and I don’t take that for granted.
I can already see how much potential there is for me here. Logistics is a world I never imagined myself in, yet it feels like the perfect fit. It challenges me, keeps me thinking, and gives me a sense of purpose that I’ve been searching for. I’m beginning to understand how my role connects to the bigger picture at BX, and that understanding has made the work feel even more rewarding. I’m not just completing tasks; I’m contributing to something that matters.
These first three weeks have shown me that I made the right choice. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, grateful for the people guiding me, and excited for everything still ahead. This is only the beginning, but it already feels like the start of a career I can grow into, shape, and truly be proud of.
